This review is solely for Dr. Critser. This is not the whole practice, just him. 2 years ago in May, Dr Critser told me that my 7 year old lab mix was too young to have cancer, which I found fishy but he's the doctor. By the second week in July Panda was dead. I brought her to live with me in Nacogdoches, and when she started getting bad again I brought her to a vet in my area because I didn't have the money to drive back down to West Columbia and see Dr Critser. My new veterinarian informed me that he didn't want to speak badly of my previous vet, but cancer doesn't discriminate due to age. Panda had cancer. He told me it was now too far to really do anything, and chemotherapy is expensive, hard on the dog, and no guarantee. He told me that her quality of life would be very very low. He said I had the option to give her steroids, which is not a treatment. The steroids would hold off her symptoms and give me a little more time with her. I had one month. On July 7, 2015 I had to put Panda down. She was paralyzed, scared, and in pain. I have told myself over and over that Doctor's are human too, they can make mistakes. While it sucks that his mistake cost my baby her life, there's no guarantee that he could've done anything more for her than what we did. But now, he diagnosed my parents 17 year old border collie mix with cancer. He said the growth on his face was a cancerous growth, and that he wouldn't survive surgery to remove it. We have since learned from Dr. Huebner (who is amazing) that the growth is an abscess, and Gerald can survive surgery to have it drained. The other growths on his body are also abscesses and not cancer. Dr Critser said that after Gerald had a steroid shot he couldn't have any pain meds for his arthritis. Dr. Huebner just gave Gerald that same steroid and a prescription for pain meds. Gerald will have his surgery to drain his abscess next week. Maybe 2 dogs that have been misdiagnosed is not a big deal, maybe I'm blowing it out of proportion because those 2 dogs belonged in the same family. But, please realize that twice now, Dr. Critser has misdiagnosed something major.
